Vegetable and fruit exports up in 11 months

ISLAMABAD: Fruit and vegetable exports during July-May 2008-09, increased by 6.55 per cent and 26.63 per cent, respectively.

Pakistan earned $143.716 million by exporting about 435,198 tons of fruits during the period under review, data released by the Federal Bureau of Statistics revealed.

Fruits exports during the same period last year were recorded at 384,384 tons with a total value of $134.886 million.

During the period under review about 343,198 tons of vegetables worth $67.329 million were exported against 211,458 tons with a total value of 5.3170 million last year.

Besides fruit and vegetable, the export of pulses also increased by 82.91 per cent to 3,807 tons worth $3.415 million. —APP link....
